I needed this right now. It wasn't chocked full of leadership insights as much as it was insights into every day life. Some of it was stuff I knew but it was a good reminder and it had many excellent quotes. It's actually a very quick read but I took my time with it and I'm glad I did.
Maxwell is masterful at squeezing an immense amount of helpful, practical advice into this short, easy-to-read, anecdote-filled book. Your attitude affects so much in your life, and it's one of the few things that you can actually control. A good attitude doesn't necessarily make good things happen to you, but it sure does help. Or you can easily set yourself up for failure by harboring a bad attitude, undermining your own efforts to succeed.

Mar 11, Thomas rated it did not like it. What did I think of the book The author is a supposedly successful motivational speaker, but as one reader in a group of four who discussed the book -- none of us liked it.
The book is ghost written, and is without original thought. The book is mostly of quotes and anecdotes by famous and historical figures, and pop icon references.

Message of the book: It's broad, and general in nature but it gets 3 stars because it's literate and well-written. Worth a q Best thing about this book is this quote: Worth a quick read. This book is part of my Masters programme reading list. It's very quick and easy to read. It gives an overall view of how your attitude affects both your day to day life as well as your working life. I thought it would be more concerned with management yet I found it more general.

This book is really broad though I feel some of the examples are rather extraneous, But I love the entire concept about FAILURE, how you can manipulate it to work for you instead of crippling you.

Solid book! Great to hear a perspective that doesn't say attitude is all you need but says that attitude makes a big difference. Sep 28, Jozef rated it did not like it. Definitely not worth reading. It's written in a style of a self-help motivational lecture.

From the beginning he emphasizes attitude is NOT the only thing. It cannot substitute for competence or experience. It can't change facts or substitute for personal growth. When the right attitude is added on top of competence etc it IS the difference maker.
